Operation and maintenance (O&M) of 15 geographically-separated Long Range Radar Sites (LRRS) called the Alaska Radar System (ARS), three remote radio sites, maintenance of the Regional Air Operations Center (RAOC), and Maintenance Control and Communications Center (MC3) within Alaska. The radar operations are in direct support of the NORAD/NORTHCOM mission for air sovereignty within Alaska and provide civil aircraft information to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), support tenant units, and inter-service support agreements.
The fifteen geographically-separated long range radar sites are located within Alaska at Point Barrow (NFV), Barter Island (BTI), Cold Bay (CDB), Cape Lisburne (LUR), Cape Newenham (EHM), Cape Romanzof (CZF), Fort Yukon (FYU), Indian Mountain (UTO), King Salmon (AKN), Kotzebue (OTZ), Murphy Dome (MYD), Oliktok (OLI), Sparrevohn (SVW), Tatalina (TLI), and Tin City (TNC). The three remote radio sites are located at Valdez, Middleton Island, and Saint Paul Island, Alaska. The Regional Air Operations Center (RAOC) and the Maintenance Control and Communications Center (MC3) are located on Joint Base Elmendorf Richardson (JBER), Alaska.
